SEAI Approved Contractors Ireland
To access state funding for your home energy upgrades, you must use a registered SEAI contractor. BuildTrade.ie provides a comprehensive directory of vetted installers qualified to complete your retrofits so you can successfully claim your grants.
Why SEAI Approval Matters
The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) manages millions of euros in government grants to help homeowners improve their BER ratings. You cannot claim these grants if you use an unapproved builder.
The SEAI Standard
To maintain their SEAI registration, contractors must meet strict criteria:
- Up-to-date Tax Clearance
- Valid Liability Insurance
- Subject to SEAI Quality Inspections
- Certified Technical Training
Grants Requiring Registration
Every major home energy upgrade scheme requires you to use a registered professional. Here are the main individual grants you can claim using a verified contractor:
Insulation Grants
- • External Wall Insulation: Up to €8,000
- • Internal Dry Lining: Up to €4,500
- • Cavity Wall Insulation: Up to €1,700
- • Attic Insulation: Up to €1,500
Heating & Systems
- • Heat Pump Systems: Up to €6,500
- • Solar Water Heating: Up to €1,200
- • Solar PV Panels: Up to €2,100
- • Heating Controls: Up to €700
How the Process Works
When applying for an individual grant, you must first apply to the SEAI before any work commences. You will need the name and SEAI registration number of your chosen contractor for the application. Once approved, you have 8 months to complete the works. After completion, the contractor and a registered BER assessor submit the final paperwork to the SEAI so your grant can be paid.
