Individual Insulation Grant Amounts (2026 Scheme)
If you do not qualify for the free Warmer Homes Scheme, you can still claim cash-back individual grants. The grant value is fixed based on your home size, making mid-size upgrades extremely affordable:
Attic Insulation Technical Requirements & Costs
To qualify for SEAI grant funding, the insulation upgrade must meet current building regulation standards (U-value of 0.16 W/m²K or better). This generally requires:
300mm Depth Guideline
Most standard lofts require a double layer of high-performance glass wool or mineral wool insulation totaling 300mm in thickness. One layer runs between the rafters, and the second layer is laid cross-wise over them to eliminate thermal bridging.
Ventilation Integrity
Insulating your attic reduces heat rising, making the loft space colder. To prevent condensation, structural rot, and damp, installers must place rafters card vents to ensure continuous air flow from the soffit eaves into the attic.
Tank & Pipe lagging
Because the attic becomes cold, water tanks and pipes running through the loft space must be heavily lagged to prevent freezing during winter weather.
